Eliza Foster Cushing was the sister of Harriet Vaughan Cheney and, with her, editor of The Snow Drop magazine. Their niece, Theoda Davis Foster, was also an author.

Eliza Cushing published the plays "The Blind Pastor," "Charles the First in Spain," "Dramatic Scene: A Verse Dialogue between Naomi and Ruth," "The Fatal Ring, "The Intercepted Letter," and "Parting of Boabdil and Moratma" in The Literary Garland.
