Dedication To John Fearon, Esq. Fitz Road, Cockermouth. It is with very great pleasure and a large amount of satisfaction that I have the privilege of dedicating this publication to you. Although not a native of the Ancient Borough, you have had above sixty years of almost unbroken connection with cockermouth, and for a great number of years you served the town in your capacity of Clerk of the District Council with honour to yourself and great benefit to the burgesses. I am personally obliged to you for much information kindly given to me for the purposes of this publication, and I take this opportunity of placing on record the many valuable and generous services you have rendered to the Borough of Cockermouth and to--Yours resepectfully, John Bolton. Cockermouth, September 1912.
