Biographical Notes noted anti-feminist, wife of magazine illustrator and former Chartist agitator W. J. Linton
Biographical Annotation Linton was a British journalist and novelist. She is remembered today for her anti-feminist views as much as for her professional success. She was born in Keswick, Cumbria and made occasional trips to the Lakes, but spent most of her adult life in London. In 1858, she married the wood-engraver W. J. Linton, but the two separated in 1867, at which point W. J. Linton left the UK, settling in New York and later, Connecticut. Eliza Linton wrote many novels, but found greater success as a journalist, writing for periodicals like Household and Words The Morning Chronicle. [info from ODNB]
