Regular; if she doesn't remember or know the author, she'll make a guess.

Binding

Pre-bound paperbooks. No blanks, no words swallowed by the spine; some annotations written in sideways.

Red leather bindings.

Catchwords

No but "Turn over" occasionally written in the lower right corner of the page when a poem continues onto the following page (specifically in volumes two and three).

Hands

Single.

Indications of use

A literary journal written for her adopted nephew John Salusbury Piozzi containing family and personal information, so clearly intended to be informative as well as a kind of family memorabilia.

Explanatory annotations to people, places, and events Salusbury might be unfamiliar with.

Piozzi frequently encourages selections of the book or the book itself be published posthumously.

Mostly fair copy—some large cross-outs (of paragraphs) but very few small corrections (of individual letters or words).

Organization

The volume is compiled page by page, chronologically.

Dedication in volume one, and opening gestures that nod to the previous volume in volumes two, three, and four. Five begins without ceremony.

Original poetry

Yes, plenty by Piozzi and others.

Ownership mark

"H. L. Piozzi" and "Hester Lynch Piozzi" signatures throughout.

"Sir Randle Mainwaring" written in pencil on the inside front cover of each volume.

Page layout

Paginated.

Poems and annotations sometimes written sideways in order to fit them on the page.

Title page

Yes, for each volume.
