A NEW SONG,

Sung by Mr. DE CASTRO, in the character of a Battalionman, in ASTLEY’s much-admired Military Pantomime, called THE BESIEGERS BESIEGED, performing with universal applause at the Amphitheatre of Arts, Westminster Bridge. The Words by Mr. ASTLEY, Sen.

’Twas in the merry month of May,

The orders came to storm the town,

We left out tents and march’d away,

And, d-me, soon we knock’d it down:

            Cannons roaring,

            Bullets pouring,

            Horses prancing,

            Men advancing,

’Midst all the bustle thousands ran,

But first the young Battalion-man.

The horn-work now begins to crack,

And moons and tow’rs ascend in air;

The breach is made, prepare to whack,

Those who dangers never fear;

            Shells a-flying,

            Cowards crying,

            Friends pursuing,

            Foes undoing;

’Midst all the bustle thousands ran,

But first the young Battalion-man.

The fort’s knock’d down, and city taken.

All folks for joy laugh, dance, and sing;

The foe, not us, are now mistaken,

And Ca[smudged]ira’s chang’d to Live the King!

            Women bless us,

            Girls caress us,

            Whatever station,

Age or nation;

’Midst all the bustle thousands ran,

But first the young Battalion-man.
