A NEW DUET,

Sung by Mrs. SAUNDERS and Mrs. DE CASTRO, in ASTLEY’s much-admired Military Pantomime, called THE BESIEGERS BESIEGED, performing with universal applause at the Amphitheatre of Arts, Westminster Bridge. The Words by Mr. ASTLEY, Sen.

GOVERNOR’s LADY.

Ah! Whither, whither, can we run,

The shells and cannon-balls to shun?

MAID.

Alas, alas! what will attend us?

Perhaps the cellar may befriend us.

LADY.

’Tis not bomb-proof—what shall we do?

We’re ruin’d, ruin’d, ’tis too true!

MAID.

Oh, to the Citadel repair,

Perhaps we may find safety there:

See—the magazine’s on fire!

LADY.

Fly, oh fly then!—let’s retire.

MAID.

Yes, oh yes—while we have breath.

LADY.

Let us then escape from death!
