Mr. Astley, jun. agreeable to the notice given in the public prints for some days past produced his new military and naval spectacle, entitled British Glory in Egypt, last night, which for splendour in effect, truth and accuracy of circumstances, costume, scenery, and powerful incidents, was never yet equalled in this kingdom. The attack by real horses is very well managed. The songs, chorusses [sic] and recitative are immediately connected with the business of the scene, and the unbounded applause given them is the best praise Mr. Upton can gave as the author. In short, we will venture to pronounce this production the first of the kind ever witnessed.
