Mrs. ASTLEY’s BENEFIT.

Royal Amphitheatre, Westminster Bridge, under the Patronage of their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and Duke of York.

Mrs. ASTLEY most respectfully begs leave to announce, that having been deprived by a late melancholy event, not only of her Benefit last season at the Amphitheatre, but also of a list of her numerous Patrons, she is induced to hope, should any incorrectness occur, that it may not be considered as a neglect of attention on her part, which Mrs. ASTLEY on all occasions holds most sacred to her Friends and the Public in general.

THIS present MONDAY, Sept 24, will be presented, at Half past Six o’clock precisely, never performed, a Caledonian Ballet of Action, composed by Mons. Gouriet, called CUNNING AGAINST ART. Immediately after which, also never performed, a New Spectacle, (taken from Ovid’s Metamorphoses) with New Music, Scenery, Dresses, Decorations, Machinery, and appropriate Songs, Glees, Chorusses [sic], &c. called PYRAMUS and THISBE; or the Unfortunate Lovers. Principal Characters, Pyramus, Mr. La Toise; Ipheginia, Miss Dufour; and Thisbe, Mrs. ASTLEY. Dancers, Attendnts, Soldiers, Banditti, &c. &c. In the course of the Spectacle will be pourtrayed [sic] the following new Scenery, designed by Mr. Grieve, and executed by him, Mr. Marchbanks, Mr. Smith, and assistants, viz. The Presence Chamber of Telamon. Pilar, &c. sacred to the Birth of Pyramus. TOWER of BABLON—Wood of Deceit—Banditti’s Cave—and, lastly, the Place of Assignation—and The Mulberry Tree, which changes colour twice, produced by Mr. ASTLEY, Jun. In the course of the evening the following new Songs, written by Messrs. Upton and Pitt, will be sung by Mr. Johannot, called The Postman, and Saint Monday. And, for
