Principal Characters—Mr. Mercerot, Mr. La Toise, Mr. Laurent, Mr. Decastro, Mr. J. Dubois, Madame Mercerot, Miss Jenkinson, Miss Davis, Mons. Gouriet, and Mrs. Astley. In the course of the evening, various feats of Horsemanship, by Master and Miss Saunders. Also Rope Dancing, by Master Saunders. A new Comic Song, by Mr. Johannot, called The Votaries of Pleasure Congratulated. The whole to conclude with an entirely new Allegorical Pantomime Game, by Mr. Astley, jun. called Laugh and Ly [sic] Down; or, Harlequin King of Spades. The principal Characters are as follows, Spadino, King of Spades (afterwards Harlequin) Mr. Ridgeway; Pamloc, King of Clubs, Mr. Dickinson; Cribbagio, King of Diamonds, Mr. Boulange; Humgruffin, Knave of Clubs, Mr. Jeffries; Beanhomme, Knave of Hearts, Mr. Link; Noirace, Knave of Spades (afterwards Ace of Spades, and Confident to Harlequin) Mr. Dubois; an Wiskercadosinu, Knave of Diamonds, Mr. Laurent; Irish Labourer, or Two Heads are better than One, Mr. Slader; Fortune, Mrs. Herbert; Misfortune, Mrs. Wallack; Hope, Mrs. Sarratt; Despair, Miss Harrison; and Cassina (afterwards Columbine) Mrs. Wybrow.
