The many wonders that have been effected by the use and power of a pack of cards, have so often been put to the test, that we thought very little more y way of surprize could take place. The Royal Amphitheatre, however, affords this night a convincing proof to the contrary: Mr. ASTLEY, jun. having constructed and put together such an ingenious and whimsical Pantomime, under sanction of the well known game of Laugh and Lie Down, that we think no one can behold it without shaking their sides with laughter. The Scenery, Machinery, Music, Dresses, and Incidents, are of the most splendid and attracting nature; and when we have to announce with such an Harlequinade the re-appearance of Mrs. ASTLEY, in the magnificent Spectacle of the Heroine of China, the excellent Musical Piece of There He Goes, and the surprising Horsemanship of Master and Miss SAUNDERS, the two first rides of the present day, we may truly say that the Amphitheatre, Westminster-bridge, stands, in point of attraction, unrivalled.
