A new pantomime was brought out at Astley’s last night, called Harlequin’s Choice; which, is but justice to say, possesses infinite merit: The changes are exceeding clever, and were executed with great precision. The characters of the four quarters of the globe were well supported. The metamorphosis of the sedan chair into a wheelbarrow was much applauded; as was also that of the tree changing to a farm yard, with many others equally surprising. The music is excellent, the dresses most superb, and the scenery and machinery very good. We hear the pantomime is the production of young Astley, and does him great credit; and, considering a first representation, the whole went off very well, and met with much applause from a crowded house.
