And ASTLEY’s AMPHITHEATRE,

THIS PRESENT EVENING,

SATURDAY, October 24, 1789.

The Entertainments of the above place.

In order to prevent disappointment, Mr. Astley most respectfully informs the Publix, that the popular and much admired performances, which have gained such high reputation and unbounded applause, will finally conclude with the season (as above) nor will they be again revived.

THE BASTILLE;

And the Head of the Governor, together with that of the Prevot des Merchands as will also be given the real military proceedings of the armed Citizens, during the three hours siege of the Bastile. The total loss on both sides amounted to 60 killed, and 100 wounded.—In the above piece will be displayed the following scenery and machinery,

I. Representing the Thullerie Gardens.

II. Representing the Bastile, (a most striking resemblance.

III. Representing the Dungeons.

IV. Representing the Governor’s House on fire.

V. Representing the Palais Royal Gardens; the Seat of the Duke of Orleans.

VI. A grand and most extraordinary piece of workmanship, displaying all the public Bridges over the river Seine, numbers of Churches, Houses, Squares, and other public places. The whole on a very extensive scale, and gives the spectators a true and just idea of

THE CITY OF PARIS,

In a manner entirely new, and never presented at any other Theatre. The procession of the Citizens, on the Day of Union, will be made in front of the Pont Neuf, Bells ringing, Illuminations, Music, and other rejoicing on the occasion, which Mr. Astley has most minutely represented, with out exaggeration.

The ROYAL NAVAL REVIEW at PLYMOUTH.

In the above Piece will be presented an uncommon display of scenery and machinery, which Mr. Astley challenges all the world to produce the like: this is consessedly allowed by numbers of celebrated Artists, who have visited his Theatre.

A New Dance, called

The MERRY COOPERS.

YOUNG ASTLEY

will perform his unparalleled

EQUESTRIAN EXERCISES.

In a manner never attempted by any other person.

A new Musical Piece, called

SHE WOULD BE A SOLDIER.

The Decorations, Dresses, and Music, entirely new.

The whole to conclude with a New Pantomime, called,

HARLEQUIN’s CHOICE;

Or, The BEAUTIES OF THE WORLD.

With ingenious Deceptions, Machinery, &c.

Places for the Boxes to be taken of Mr. Smith, at the Amphitheatre.

Mr. ASTLEY, sensible of the Public’ Patronage, most respectfully returns them his Thanks. Such support (to an Old Soldier, who has more than once bled for his King, in the service of his Country) will ever be most gratefully acknowledged. He will continue to merit their future favor by industry and labour.

YOUNG ASTLEY humbly hopes he shall not be thought intruding, in offering his Thanks for the many favors he has received from the Public. He will endeavour to merit a continuance by every possible exertion.
