ROYAL-GROVE INTELLIGENCE.

Last night the first representation of the late Confederation business took place at Astley’s, nearly on the same plan as the description given in our former papers. Considering the diligence that must have been used in preparing it in so short a space of time, it was tolerably complete. The scenes were not very numerous, but were universally allowed to be exceeding good copies;--we could observe the Palais Royal, the Bridge of Boats, the Triumphal Arch, Hotel de Liberté, and Champ de Mars, shining forth with every mark of joy on this public occasion. The group of figures, in the Paris taste, singing, dancing, &c. on the elevated space of the externa; part of Champ de Mars, produced a most extraordinary effect. The confidence the Public places in the Astleys, with regard to amusements, is without example. On the whole, the music, dresses, scenery, and machinery, have pretentions to favor; and the piece itself does correspondent remarks, after minutely viewing the representation, that the change in the French Constitution will scarcely be perfected in two hundred years to come; and, perhaps, after all, never procure them that liberty which is to be found at present in this kingdom.
