A FAVOURITE SONG,

In the NEW EAST-INDIA MILITARY DIVERTISEMENT, now performing at the ROYAL SALOON and NEW AMPHITHEATRE, Westminster-bridge, with general approbation. (Sung by Mr. JOHANNOT) Called Patrick O’Connor’s Description of the India Campaign, with his Friend Tippoo

Tune—“Corporal Casey.”

The Words by Mr. ASTLEY, Sen.

I.

From sweet Tipperary, to pick up some honour

I’m here to be sure, little Patrick O’Connor;

With Dennis O’Neal, Tedly Blane, and O’Cary;

By my soul we have routed the Black a poor party.

Och! Rub a dub, row de dow, faith Mr. Tippoo

We have bother’d your head, and we’ve made you to flip O!

Devil burn me, you’re quiet, so good bye Mr. Dippoo.

II.

Now d’ye see the queer Chief would have fain made us bellow;

But for gallant CORNWALLIS, that fine British fellow,

While Tippoo made sure now, to kill us and eat us,

With the half of his kingdom we made him to treat us.

Och! Rub a dub, row de dow, so Mr. Tippoo,

You fain wou’d have give us, my jewel, the slip O!

Arrah, honey, be easy, now do Mr. Tippoo.

III.

What good-looking creatures these lacks of rupees, Sir;

Then the two lads, great Tippoo’s sons, if you please, Sir,

To be sure, Mr. Sultan, with us they an’t sleeping,

Nor you get them again till you pay for their keeping.

Och! Rub a dub, row de dow, faith Mr. Tippoo,

To be sure you won’t pay us for taking a trip O!

Which we did, just to say, “how d’ye do, Mr. Tippoo?”

IV.

O England and Ireland, my jewel forever,

Their hearts are so great, and their soldiers so clever;

Now Tippoo wou’d fain send us back with pretences,

But d’ye mind, it won’t do till he’s paid all expenses.

Och! Rub a dub, row de dow, nom Mr. Tippoo,

Not a man must take horse, and ride home in a ship O!

Till the reck’ning is paid—then good day, Mr. Tippoo.
