The following is the grand and much admired

CHORUS,

Sung at ASTLEY’s, by way of Finale to his celebrated

SIEGE OF VALENCIENNES.

The mighty Pallas, see, descends!

And England’s gallant Duke befriends;

See! she crowns him---she crowns him, with laurels of fame!

And may his valiant deeds e’er shine,

Throughout the world’s extensive line,

And immortal,* immortal for ever be his name!

*If immortality is supposed to crown the deeds of the Heroic Soldier, whose sword is unsheathed to defend his country, the illustrious Personage here alluded to, may truly be said to be entitled to the honours awarded him by the poet.
