Biographical Notes
Biographical Annotation Dr. Robert Woof was a scholar of Romantic Literature and the first Director of the Wordsworth Trust and Museums Director of the Wordsworth Museum at Dove Cottage in Grasmere. He studied at Pembroke College, Oxford, and defended a PhD thesis on the relationship between S. T. Coleridge and William Wordsworth at the University of Toronto in 1959. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire (Commander of the British Empire) in 1998, and named as a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2000.
