The Weekly Times - Saturday, June 22, 1895

In the High Court of Justice to-day an attempt was made to have quashed the conviction of Oscar Wilde, the wellknown dramatic author, who was lately sentenced to two years' imprisonment with hard labor for an abominable offence.

The application to set aside the conviction was based wholly upon a technical point in regard to the procedure at the second trial.

The arguments advanced by Wilde's counsel did not recommend themselves to the Court, and the application was consequently dismissed.
