The debtor, said counsel, had filed a statement which disclosed a total indebtedness of £3,591, with substantially no assets. Several of Wilde’s friends, however, had subscribed about £1,000, and as others had also promised, sums sufficient would be forthcoming to pay all outsiders 20s in the pound, with the exception of the largest creditor, a friend of debtor. The examination was adjourned till November 12.
