The Governor of the gaol denies that Wilde is insane. At first the convict was kept at the treadmill for six hours a day, but, as his health is not good, he is at present engaged in the lighter occupation of picking oakum.

The report that Oscar Wilde had become insane is contradicted. After his conviction he was kept at the treadmill for six hours a day, but as his health was not good he was put on the lighter task of picking oakum.
