THE WILDE SCANDAL
The Prosecution Closed.
Yesterday's Developments.

London, May 23.

The case for the prosecution in the second trial of Oscar Wilde closed to-day. Sir Edward Clark, Q.C., counsel for the defence demanded that the charges in connection with Wilde's behavior at the Savoy Hotel be withdrawn.

The judge replied that this part of the case was so evenly balanced it would be wiser to submit it to the jury.

The charge against Wilde in connection with the offence with Shelley was withdrawn because there was no evidence save the tainted testimony of Shelley, who was an accomplice, and his evidence had no corroboration.

The charge against Wilde in connection with the man Wood was proceeded with, and the hearing was adjourned.
