Oscar Wilde, it appears, consulted the oracle a la Mrs. Dean. Witness the following, to the editor of THE PELICAN:—
Sir,—With reference to your account of Mr. Oscar Wilde's interview with Miss Edwards, the palmist, it may interest the readers of THE
PELICAN to know that while in Monte Carlo last March I was consulted by Mr. Wilde, who was then staying there with Lord A. Douglas. I told him, amongst
other things, that the Queensberry case would be decided against him; also, that if he returned to England he would be imprisoned for two years. He then
pooh-poohed the idea, and said that that would be impossible, although he looked very depressed. As we all know, this has all come to pass. This statement
can be verified by several people who were told of it at the time, and before the verdict was given in either case.—I enclose my card and remain,
