LORD SHOLTO DOUGLAS.
A SPRIG OF ARISTOCRACY FROM THE QUEENSBERRY STOCK.

This striking sketch is well drawn from a photo of Lord Sholto Douglas, who is keeping up the old Queensberry reputation for fighting and fun.

Lord Sholto is a brother to Lord Alfred Douglas, whose name figured conspicuously in the Oscar Wilde trial, and who, despite the suggestions of the Wilde jury, has not been heard from since.

About the time that his brother was making history as a friend and associate of Mr. Oscar Vile, Lord Sholto was also getting himself advertised in San Francisco.

The frisky young sprig of old nobility conceived the brilliant idea of taking unto himself a wife. The lady whom my lord desired to honor with his heart and other sterling possessions was showing in a Variety Theatre in 'Frisco. His friends objecting to the match-on what grounds it is difficult to imagine—had the incipient bridegroom arrested and locked up as a lunatic.

Sholto, however, demonstrated his sanity before the court, got free, and duly wedded the variety artiste who is now Lady Sholto, and may later on become Marchioness of Queensberry. The happy couple are likely to visit Australia shortly. We publish the classic features of the famous Lord Alfred's almost equally famous brother in order to show that our lord-loving local rumocracy may recognise the real article when it arrives.
