In a lengthy message, which we publish this evening, our London correspondent gives a good idea of the character of the trial opened in London yesterday, in which the Marquis of Queensberry figures as defendant. The Marquis, accused of criminally libelling Mr Oscar Wilde, the great art critic, pleads as justification a father's right to protect his son against the demoralising influence of Wilde. The latter's relation with the Marquis's son, Lord Alfred Douglas, have certainly been of a highly suspicious character - but really the case is one that does not admit at this stage of speculation!
