LONDON, FRIDAY, APRIL 5.

The trial of the Marquess of QUEENSBERRY. for a libel on Mr. OSCAR WILDE was continued yesterday. Mr. WILDE was further cross-examined by Mr. CARSON as to his relations with several young men of inferior social position, eliciting from the Prosecutor the on several occasions that he cared nothing for social position. During a brief re-examination of the Witness, Sir E. CLARKE put in a number of remarkable letters written by Lord QUEENSBERRY to his son and others. Mr. CARSON THEN opened the defence, saying that Lord QUEENSBERRY would withdraw nothing of what he had said or written, and that in what he had been done he had been actuated solely by the motive of saving his son from the influence of Mr. WILDE. His speech had not concluded at the rising of the Court.
