Mr. Justice Charles, on taking his seat, proceeded to sum up the case to the jury. He said that in withdrawing the charges of conspiracy he thought the prosecution took a wise course. Having listened to the evidence, he thought it right to say he could not understand why the counts for conspiracy were included. He should direct a verdict of acquittal on those counts, and also on two counts as against Taylor, upon which no evidence was offered. His lordship then went on to deal with the facts of the case.
