GOSSIP OF THE DAY.
THE LAST OF THE WILDE CASE.

The "Club Chatterer" in To-Day has it on authority that has rarely misled him, that we have heard the last of the Wilde case, so far as the principal character is concerned. No doubt (he continues) it is best. Rightly or wrongly, honoured names were bandied about, and although rumour generally lies, there is sometimes a little of the truth in its tongue. The evil is bad, but after the past few weeks one wonders whether the remedy is not as bad, until such cases are heard with closed doors.

WILDE AND THE WARDERS.

Another item about Wilde. He sent an order to the St. James's Theatre, the other evening, from Her Majesty's Prison, Holloway, requiring that an order for two stalls should be granted to a couple of his temporary acquaintances to see "my play."
