In the Wilde and Taylor trial to-day the charges of conspiracy were withdrawn by the prosecution. Counsel for Wilde, in his opening address, said Wilde would take the charges against him. Wilde being called to the witness stand swore that the evidence given at the Queensbury trial was absolutely true. He said he had nothing to do with publishing Lord Douglas’ poems nor his articles in the Chameleon (magazine). Taylor, the co-defendant, next told his career, and denied the charges against him.
