IN THE AMERICAN MART.

Oscar Wilde’s farce, "The importance of being earnest," was produced at the Empire Theatre on Monday evening by Mr. Frohman’s stock company, and proved a great success. The chief fault of the play, says one critic, is that it is too clever.

The opera is in its last week, and Miss Vesta Tilley, the wonderfully brilliant young English singer of masculine songs, has returned to Mr. T. Pastor’s playhouse and been received with a whole stage full of flowers.
