THE WILDE CASE
WHY THE JURY DISAGREED.
[BY TELEGRAPH TO "THE GALIGNANI MESSENGER.]

LONDON, May 2.

To the particulars already sent you as to the Wilde case and the disagreement of the jury, I may add a rumour which I heard during the night, but for the accuracy of which I do not vouch. The story is to the effect that the reason the jury could not agree was because three of its members declared that the evidence presented was of such a nature as to prevent their assenting to any other verdict than that of not guilty, which the other nine jurors world not accept. All the papers this morning regret that the case has to be retried.
