Oscar Wilde’s Affairs.

An application was made to Mr Registrar Linklater at the London Bankruptcy Court yesterday for a receiving order against Oscar Wilde, described as Oscar Fingal O’Flaherty Wills Wilde, late of 16 Tite street, now of H M Prison, Pentonville, author. The petitioning creditor is John Sholto Douglas Marquis of Queensberry, his debt of £677 being in respect of the costs of the unsuccessful action for criminal libel brought by the debtor against the Marquis. The act of bankruptcy alleged is non-compliance with the requirements of a bankruptcy notice. The petition was served at Pentonville Prison on July 2. The act of banking and service of the petitioner having been proved, his honour, upon the application of Mr Russell (Day, Russell, and Co), made the usual receiving order.
