LONDON CORRESPONDENCE.(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)(BY SPECIAL WIRE.)

London, Saturday Morning.

[...]I understand on the best authority that further arrests are contemplated by the authorities in connection with the Oscar Wilde case. That arrests might be made, and made in important if not exactly in exalted quarters, unfortunately cannot be denied, but the authorities consider that the deterring influence of the present prosecution may be left to have its effect, and the extended knowledge of an abominable scandal by means of a big prosecution might be more injurious than anything else that could be done. There are a number of individuals in good position who are connected more or less directly with this hateful gang, and it will probably be found that these individuals will disappear, if they have not already disappeared, from this country henceforward.
