So it seems that Oscar Wilde was not the weakling that every one fancied him. Instead he has shown that he possesses strength and stamina, and even the treadmill has had no terrors for him. Marcus Clarke and Hall Caine have given the most graphic pictures of the horrors of imprisonment to be found in all literature, but if Oscar Wilde does not succumb to the hard work and scant diet of Pentonville he will be able to present a picture of the influence of prison life on a man of culture and luxurious tastes such as has never been given before.
