Sydney Grundy, the English dramatist, defends Oscar Wilde's plays, but that won't make any difference if Mrs Grundy condemns them.

Very few men have ever fallen from such a hight of comparative respectability to such a depth as Oscar Wilde. It almost reminds one of the fall of Lucifer, the son of the morning.

The cable says that Oscar Wilde has cut his hair. Everybody seems surprised that he didn't cut his throat as well.
