TWELVE PAGES.

The popular story of those whose occupation is that of the promotion of English scandals about the failure of the jury to convict Oscar Wilde, the decision of the court to admit him to bail, and the finding the money for his release, is that there are mysterious social influences at work and that great men are concerned. The theory is that Wilde has been helped to run away and will never stand trial. If that proves to be so it is the most hideous form of confession, and will go far to confirm the most miserable scandals.
