It is reported that Oscar Wilde, who was sentenced last month to two years' imprisonment for offences under the eleventh clause of the Criminal Law Consolidation Act, became insane when the authorities shaved his head upon his admission to prison. Wilde, in consequence of the violence of his mania, is now reported to be confined in a padded room.

During the period in which Oscar Wilde was lodged in gaol awaiting bail it was reported that he had attempted to commit suicide.
