In a reply to a letter from Mr. William K. Wilde, asking for information concerning his brother's physical and mental condition, the Governor of Peutonville wrote, re Oscar Wilde, under date June 5: "The newspaper reports are cruel fabrications. Prisoner is going on very well. In the event of serious illness a communication would be sent at once."

The British Medical Journal fully confirms this statement of the facts, and says there is absolutely no foundation for the reports that have been current.
