Au mois de février 1891 dans le Fortnightly Review (revue de quinzaine), Oscar Wilde publia un article intitulé: « L'Ame de l'homme dans
le socialisme ».
Voici l'un des passages les plus saillants: -
« Le socialisme, le communisme--qu'on l'appelle comme on voudra--en transformant la propriété privée en fortune publique et en
substituant la coopération à la concurrence, restaurera la société à sa condition naturelle d'un organisme sain et assurera le bien-être matériel de
chaque membre de la communauté. En fait, il donnera la vie à sa propre base et à son propre milieu. »
