THE ARREST.
BAIL
REFUSED.
THE CHIEF ACCOMPLICE ALSO
ARRESTED.
LONDON, April 7.
The arrest of Oscar Wilde, on a charge of having committed an unnatural offence, was made on Thursday night. It is believed that complete plans for leaving England had been formed, but the detectives, after shadowing Wilde and some friends for several hours, affected his arrest at a well-known hotel. They also arrested Taylor, the alleged chief accomplice of Wilde. When the latter was informed of the arrest of Taylor, he paled and shook visibly. On Friday, Wilde was brought before the court, and remanded until Monday. Bail was refused. It is said the prosecution have ample evidence to establish the prisoner's guilt.
