OFFICIAL STATEMENT.

In a reply to a letter from Mr. William K. Wilde, asking for information concerning his brother's physical and mental condition, the Governor of Pentonville, wrote re Oscar Wilde, under date June 5th: "The newspaper reports are cruel fabrications. Prisoner is going on very well. In the event of serious illness a communicaiton would be sent at once."
