LONDON CORRESPONDENCE
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
(BY SPECIAL WIRE.)

London, Friday Morning. [...] I see that my information of yesterday as to the unfounded character of the statements concerning the health of Oscar Wilde in prison has been confirmed by official authority. In reply to a letter from Mr. William R Wilde asking for information concerning his brother's physical and mental condition, the Governor of Pentonville wrote re Oscar under date June 5th, "The newspaper reports are cruel fabrications. Prisoner is going on very well. In the event of serious illness a communication would be sent at once." The British Medical Journal fully confirms this statement of the facts, and says there is absolutely no foundation for the reports that have been current.
