EIGHT PAGES.

The Queensberry-Queensberry bout between the Marquis and his son, seems to have resulted in a knock-out for both, legally considered, as both were bound over to keep the peace. In other respects, however, the Marquis seems to have come out first best, as he "bore no traces" of the fight when in court, while Lord Douglas, his somewhat degenerate son, showed a black eye.

By the way, hereditary aristocracy doesn't seem to work well in England. Suppose she should try the system of making lords, etc., according to merit, and "not transferable." She'd have a different sort of aristocracy, at any rate.
